Billy Joe McCoy, 47, of Ottumwa, died at 5:51 p.m. April 6, 2026 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
He was born November 22, 1978 in Ottumwa to Rick and Darlene Jessop McCoy. Billy married Beth Reaves and they later divorced.
He had worked for a vendor in Cargill in Eddyville.
Billy was very funny and he could make things out of nothing. He enjoyed working on cars and loved spending time with his kids.
Surviving are his children, Lexus (Seirrah) McCoy of Ottumwa, Caine McCoy of Eldon and Koby McCoy of Fairfield; siblings, Jarrod (Taylor) Purvis of Oklahoma City, OK, Justin (Leeann) Purvis of Jones, OK and Angel (Lizzi) McCoy of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a very special friend, Beth; grandfather, Bub McCoy; and grandmother, Vivian McCoy.
His body has been cremated and services may be held at a later date.
