Albia Golf is proud to announce the official Grand Opening of its newly revitalized facilities on Saturday, May 2, 2026. This community celebration begins with a Kentucky Derby watch-party, followed by an evening of world-class live music at The Back Nine Restaurant – Albia’s go-to spot for great food, cold drinks, and a relaxed clubhouse vibe. The festivities will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an open house, inviting guests to explore the course and clubhouse. The highlight of the evening will be musical performances beginning at the conclusion of the Kentucky Derby, approximately 6:15 PM, showcasing two extraordinary talents with deep Iowa roots.

The event features a unique cross-generational lineup that bridges blues, jazz, and soul music:
Kevin Burt: An International Blues Challenge champion, Kevin earned an award sweep in Memphis with the Best Harmonica, Best Guitar, and Best Solo Act awards. A Gulf Coast Records recording artist and an Iowa Blues Hall of Fame inductee, Burt has taken his powerhouse vocals, soul-stirring harmonica, and captivating storytelling to all corners of the world. He will be performing on another European Tour this summer with a cornerstone gig at a Romanian Blues Festival. His presence brings a world-class energy to the new Albia Golf stage.
Griffin Shroyer: An Albia Grandson, and a rising standout in the Iowa jazz scene, Shroyer was awarded with multiple Outstanding Soloist performances on the path to the Iowa Jazz Championships with the Cedar Rapids Washington High School’s Jazz Revolutionists. Griffin has performed with Kevin Burt since before his fourth birthday, earning the affectionate blues moniker of “Brother Griff” as he grew his chops at Kevin’s side. Fresh off their recent performance at KCCK’s Jazz Under the Stars, Kevin and Brother Griff are excited to bring their unique musical excellence to Albia.
