Iowa’s prison system utilizes indeterminate sentences, meaning inmates may be paroled before completing their full sentence. The County Attorney’s Office lacks authority over release decisions, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Board of Parole. In February, notifications were issued regarding inmates being released to Wapello County. So that citizens may be informed, below are the details of these notifications, including approximate time served prior to release:
1. J.H. was sentenced to 14 years, paroled in 2 years and 6 months.*
2. J.H. was sentenced to 10 years, paroled in 1 year, new crime with 25 years added, paroled in 8 years, revoked, paroled in 1 year and 3 months.*
3. J.A. sentenced to 22 years, paroled in 6 years and 7 months.*
4. B.R. sentenced to 5 years, paroled in 11 months.
5. D.S. sentenced to 21 years, paroled in 6 years and 2 months*
6. D.S. sentenced to 20 years, paroled in 1 year and 7 months.
7. M.Z. special sentence revocation, served 2 years.
8. J.H. sentenced to 5 years, paroled in 6 months.
