Phillip Gene Stansberry, 86, of Agency, died at 1 a.m. March 20, 2026 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
He was born March 25, 1939 in Centerville to Lloyd and Ruby O. Brinegar Stansberry. Phillip was married to Cheryl Ann Walker for 54 years and she preceded him in death on February 4, 2020.
Having served in the US Navy, he a self-employed electrician.
Phillip built and remodeled homes, refurbished cars and was a “Jack of all trades”. He was a jokester as well as a car show enthusiast and enjoyed showing off his hot rod. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Dakota, his cat, Loki, loved tinkering, riding around on his tractor and anything that went fast.
Surviving are several children; a grandson, Dakota Gene Stansberry of Agency; 2 sisters, Sandra Patterson of Cedar Rapids and Nancy (Robert) Ostdiek of Ottumwa; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patricia Nordquist and 2 cats, Sissy and Bart.
His body has been cremated and no services are planned. Memorials may be made to Heartland Humane Society.
