A warrant service at a residential location led to an arrest after the individual resisted law enforcement.
On March 3rd at approximately 3:25 p.m., the Ottumwa Police Department responded to the 800 block of Richmond Avenue regarding a valid arrest warrant. Upon arrival, officers identified 39-year-old Sarah Hervey of Ottumwa as the subject of the warrant for failing to appear at a scheduled review hearing.
According to court filings, officers informed Hervey of her arrest, but she refused to place her arms behind her back and resisted efforts to handcuff her. Law enforcement reports indicate that Hervey was taken to the ground while continuing to resist, interfering with officers as they attempted to complete the custodial arrest.
Hervey was ultimately taken into custody and transported to the Wapello County Jail, where she was later released. No bond or preliminary hearing has been set at this time.
Hervey now faces charges of Interference with Official Acts, classified as a simple misdemeanor.
