On March 16 at approximately 9:35 p.m., the Oskaloosa Police Department was dispatched to the 500 block of C Avenue East in Oskaloosa in response to a reported domestic abuse assault.
According to the criminal complaint, a 39-year-old, Nick Lee a Oskaloosa resident allegedly pulled a knife from his belt and stabbed a wall during an argument with his girlfriend. Court records indicate the couple has been residing together since last year. The incident reportedly placed the victim in immediate fear for her safety and was witnessed by a juvenile present at the scene.
Law enforcement reports state that the Lee admitted the knife fell from his belt earlier during the argument, but Lee claimed he merely picked it up and returned it to its holster. Officers observed a slit in the drywall consistent with a knife blade.
During the arrest, officers found the Lee in possession of a methamphetamine smoking pipe, a small bag containing methamphetamine, and a plastic bag with 22 prescription pills—six white and 16 tan tramadol tablets—prescription-only medication.
The police affidavit further notes that the victim indicated two firearms were present near the Lee. Officers later recovered a single-shot Diamond shotgun and a Marlin .22 caliber rifle, along with a box of shotgun shells and ammunition. These items were collected and placed into evidence. The Lee also has a prior felony conviction in Missouri.
Lee is currently detained at the Mahaska County Jail on a $15,000 cash-only bond. A no-contact order was issued on March 17.
