On March 20th, at approximately 4:02pm, the Wapello Rural Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 11000 Block of Rutledge Road. Tim Richmond Wapello County Emergency Management Director reported that the fire originated when the homeowner was conducting a controlled burn in the backyard, which got out of hand and ignited the back of the house.
Fortunately, there were no injuries, and the damage to the house was minimal. The quick response from the fire department helped prevent further damage.
