Jody Lou Wood, age 74 of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at The Homestead in Knoxville. Per Jody’s wishes she will be cremated and no services planned. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com
The daughter of Kenneth Daryl and Alice Lou (Thomasson) Wood, Jody was born on August 27, 1951, in Monroe. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1969. Jody worked as a nurse at several hospitals. She attended the Monroe Presbyterian Church. Jody loved all things racing, especially driving her father’s vintage sprint cars, and spent many Saturdays at Knoxville raceway watching the races. She also enjoyed gardening, fishing, spending time with her dog Lucy, and watching her four grandkids play in the backyard.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Joshua Wood and Joe (Jessie) Smith; grandchildren, Clayton and Casey Wood and Lucas and Lennox Smith; and two brothers, Kirby Wood and Matthew (Debbie) Wood. Preceding her in death were her parents
