A former Hy-Vee employee was charged with a pair of felonies after police say he fraudulently used customers’ receipts to steal from the company.
26-year-old Treamon Turner of Ottumwa was charged with ongoing criminal activity – unlawful activity, a Class B felony, and second-degree theft, a Class D felony.
The Ottumwa Police Department says on several occasions from November 2024 to January 2025, Turner used his position as a Hy-Vee employee to make fraudulent returns using other customers’ receipts. Court records allege Turner then had the stolen money transferred to his own account.
According to the criminal complaint, Turner deprived Hy-Vee of $2,750.41.
A warrant for Turner’s arrest was issued in February 2025 and he was taken into custody on March 5, 2026.
Turner is currently lodged in the Wapello County Jail. His bail is set at $25,000.
Turner has a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 16.
