Fairfield and Keota both opened their outdoor track and field seasons Thursday, March 26th at the 64th Annual Steve Roth Washington Relays at Washington High School, a boys-only meet that drew 32 teams from across the state.
Fairfield finished first in the Class B standings and fourth overall with 123 points. Keota finished tied for seventh in the Class C standings with 22 points. The full team standings were as follows:

Fairfield Results
Fairfield turned in a strong all-around performance, capturing four event victories and adding multiple top finishes across the meet.
The Trojans were led by Eli Zillman, who won the Class B long jump with a leap of 19-05. Spencer McCready won the Class B 110-meter hurdles in 15.81, and Fairfield’s 4×110-meter shuttle hurdle relay team of Spencer McCready, Blake Burnett, Sawyer McCready, and Zillman also took first in 1:07.64. Ethan Bisgard rounded out the event wins by capturing the Class B 200-meter dash in 23.02.
Zillman also placed second in the high jump by clearing 5-10, while Brady Wigle finished second in the long jump at 18-06. Blake Burnett joined Zillman on the podium in the high jump, taking third while also clearing 5-10.
In the throwing events, Aiden Mizelle placed seventh in the Class B discus with a throw of 115-06 and 11th in the shot put at 34-02. Clayton Greiner added a 12th-place throw of 102-01 in the discus, and William Bryant placed 14th in the shot put at 33-03.50.
Sawyer McCready finished 10th in the 110-meter hurdles in 19.59. In the 400-meter hurdles, Maddox Rebling placed 10th in 1:09.02 and Brady Wigle was 11th in 1:11.12.
Fairfield’s sprint group delivered strong performances throughout the meet. In addition to his 200-meter win, Ethan Bisgard placed second in the 100-meter dash in 11.35, with Dayson Workman close behind in third at 11.36. Eli Hoffman added a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters in 23.84, and Jacob Crew placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in 57.17.
In the distance events, John Miller led the way with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:08.21, while River Fulton was eighth in 2:20.16. Clae Cass placed seventh in the 3,200-meter run in 12:10.06. In the 1,600-meter run, Brice Boatright finished ninth in 5:21.58, followed by Elijah Hamilton in 10th at 5:24.22.
The Trojans also posted strong results in the relays. The 4×800-meter relay team of Brice Boatright, Elijah Hamilton, River Fulton, and John Miller placed second in 9:06.35. Fairfield added another runner-up finish in the Class B distance medley relay, where Voss Richardson, Eli Hoffman, Brock Atwood, and Parker Reid ran 3:53.97.
The 4×100-meter relay team of Dayson Workman, Spencer McCready, Ethan Bisgard, and Eli Hoffman placed third in 44.52. The 800-meter sprint medley team of Eli Hoffman, Voss Richardson, Dayson Workman, and Jacob Crew also finished third in 1:41.38. The 4×200-meter relay squad of Jaxon Coleman, Aiden Holthus, Kris Powell, and Tucker Robertson placed fourth in 1:45.25.
Fairfield head coach Brian Dunlap said he was pleased with the team’s performance to open the outdoor season.
“I thought it was a nice start to our outdoor season,” Dunlap said. “Kids really competed well. We scored a lot of points in the jumps, sprints and hurdles tonight. Really saw some great things from the distance crew as well. Very happy with our attitude and effort in some challenging conditions.”
Keota Results
Keota was led by a standout performance from Ayden Galindo, who accounted for all 22 of the team’s points.
Galindo won the Class C high jump by clearing 5-10. He also placed third in the Class C long jump with a leap of 18-01 and added a third-place finish in the Class C 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.61.
Hunter Grandstaff placed seventh in the Class C 3,200-meter run in 12:46.94 and 10th in the 1,600-meter run in 5:57.49. Luke Moeller finished 15th in the Class C 800-meter run in 2:37.84.
In the sprints, Blake Baker placed 16th in the 100-meter dash in 12.98, followed by Brycen Horras in 19th at 13.15. Baker also placed 12th in the 200-meter dash in 26.59. Dacin Redlinger placed 14th in the Class C 400-meter dash in 1:07.12.
Keota’s relay teams posted several finishes. The Class C 4×800-meter relay team of Luke Moeller, Chase Haifley, Dacin Redlinger, and Rowen Horning placed seventh in 10:17.52. The 800-meter sprint medley team of Blake Baker, Chase Haifley, Brycen Horras, and Rowen Horning finished 10th in 1:52.03. The Class C distance medley team of Ayden Galindo, Chase Haifley, Luke Moeller, and Hunter Grandstaff placed seventh in 4:29.24. The 4×200-meter relay team of Blake Baker, Dacin Redlinger, Brycen Horras, and Rowen Horning placed seventh in 1:47.35.
Keota head coach Dan Stout said he was encouraged by the team’s effort to start the season.
“Glad to see Ayden win the high jump and get a medal in the long jump. I thought all of my athletes competed great tonight. Great way for us to start the year and get us going for the year,” Stout said.
