Dennis Lee Greenfield, 76, of Ottumwa died at 12:50 p.m. March 4, 2026 at the Iowa City VA Medical Center.
He was born July 24, 1949 in Keosauqua to Donald Edgar and Dorothy Mae Finney Greenfield. Dennis was married to Joyce Ann Carstens for 20 years and they later divorced. He married Sherry Lynn Chidester Mason May 2, 1994 and she preceded him in death December 14, 2024.
A 1967 graduate of Van Buren High School, Dennis served for 4 years in the US Army, serving in Vietnam. He was stationed in Fort Carson in Colorado Springs where he met his future wife, Joyce; together they had three sons. He worked at Black Cloud Mine in Leadville, CO. Moving back to Iowa in 1978 he worked at Rockwell International in Fairfield, Pella Corps and in his retirement at Earl May in Ottumwa.
Dennis attended Open Bible Church in Bloomfield. He was a member of the Bootscooters. Dennis enjoyed hobby stock racing , fishing and especially spending time with his family.
Surviving are his children, Randy (Robin) Greenfield, Robert (Amy) Greenfield and Cody (Kayleigh) Greenfield all of Pueblo, CO, Lorie (Ron) Baker of Ottumwa, Jon (Karin) Mason of Fairfield, Scott Mason of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Haley, Tyler, Faith and Emma Greenfield and Tyson Muniz, Austin (Ashley) Drummond, Tina (Kyle) Shilling, Leah (Adam) Sampson, Tyler Baker, Heather and Hunter Mason, Keeton Fleener; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Herbert Greenfield of Ottumwa, Jim Draper of Lubbock, TX, Teresa Arnett of Colorado Springs, CO; and a sister-in-law, Stephanie Samuelson (Dave Jones).
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Sheila Hamberg.
Visitation will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday March 8th at Reece Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday March 9th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Courtney officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
