Snow is coming to an end from west to east across the region this morning, but gusty northwest winds are continuing to cause blowing and drifting snow, making travel hazardous. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. for portions of central, north-central, and south-central Iowa, including Cerro Gordo County, Wright County, Jasper County, Poweshiek County, Warren County, and Marion County. Areas such as Mason City, Newton, Indianola, Pella, Grinnell, and Knoxville may see up to an additional inch of snow, with slick roads expected through the morning commute.

Farther east, a band of light to moderate snow will continue moving through parts of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois through about 7 a.m. This includes Clinton County, Muscatine County, Scott County, Keokuk County, Washington County, Louisa County, Jefferson County, Henry County, Des Moines County, Jo Daviess County, Stephenson County, Carroll County, Whiteside County, Rock Island County, Henry County, Bureau County, Putnam County, Mercer County, Henderson County, and Warren County. Cities including Davenport, Burlington, Fairfield, Clinton, Freeport, and Rock Island could see reduced visibility under one mile at times due to snowfall combined with wind gusts between 35 and 45 mph. While most locations will receive less than an inch of accumulation, isolated spots north and west of the Quad Cities may see up to two inches.

Roads, bridges, and overpasses may become slick as temperatures fall below freezing. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra following distance, and use caution during the morning commute. For the latest travel conditions, motorists can check the Iowa 511 system online or by dialing 511.
