A Van Buren County deputy’s response to a stolen vehicle report early Sunday morning resulted in the arrest of a Danville man on assault charges.
According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was dispatched at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 22nd, to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle and possible missing person in Keosauqua.
The woman who reported the incident told authorities her boyfriend had driven her car to Tillie’s Bar earlier in the evening and failed to return home. She said patrons at the bar informed her that an unidentified man had placed her intoxicated boyfriend in her vehicle and drove off with him.
Deputies located the vehicle near Hotel Manning in downtown Keosauqua around 5:30 a.m. Two men were found in the area.
Trenton A. Miller, 36, of Danville, was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, a serious misdemeanor.
Miller was released on his own recognizance. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 12th.
