An Ottumwa man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend and committing elicit acts against a minor.

42-year-old Nicholis Moyers was charged with third-degree sexual abuse (Class C felony), assault with intent to commit sexual abuse (Aggravated misdemeanor), and domestic abuse assault (Serious misdemeanor).

Court records say on February 22nd at 12:45 AM, Moyers and his girlfriend were involved in a verbal altercation. Moyers is accused of punching her in the face, causing a swollen, bloody lip.

Court documents also allege Moyers grabbed a 16-year-old girl by the back of the neck and tried to force her to commit an illicit act while mocking her consent. Moyers, who also made inappropriate sexual comments to the girl, stopped his advances when he was struck by a witness, according to the criminal complaint.

Moyers was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail where his bail was set at $25,000.

Moyers entered a not guilty plea and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 4th. He’s been ordered to not have any contact with the two alleged victims.
