A late-evening disturbance prompted a police response after officials say an argument turned physical inside a local home.

On February 19 at approximately 9:26 p.m., the Oskaloosa Police Department was dispatched to the 300 block of 5th 2nd NE in response to a reported assault.

According to the criminal complaint, Ricky Allgood, 68, of Oskaloosa, allegedly advanced toward the victim and pinned her against a wall with his hand on her face and throat. Law enforcement noted that another individual who resides at the location intervened and was able to pull Allgood away from the victim.

Court filings state the victim was able to retreat to another room, where she called 911. Allgood was arrested and transported to the Mahaska County Jail. He was later released.

An initial appearance hearing is scheduled for March 18. Allgood is charged with assault with intent to cause pain or injury, a simple misdemeanor.
