Authorities in Marion County responded to a reported disturbance that escalated into an alleged assault, leading to an arrest and criminal charge after deputies spoke with multiple individuals at the scene.

On February 20, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an alleged assault in the 1000 block of Oregon Drive in Knoxville. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the individuals involved.

According to law enforcement reports, the initial altercation began between Victor Adkins, 41, of Knoxville, and another male who was present at the scene. Court documents state that Adkins appeared intoxicated and became very hostile.

A female victim told authorities she attempted to de-escalate the situation three separate times. She stated that she tried to wrap her arms around Adkins and grabbed his arm in an effort to calm him down, but each time she did so, he threw her off. The female victim is pregnant, and documents indicate Adkins was aware of this. Records show the two have been dating for approximately three months.

Court filings also state the male victim had been sitting in his truck when Adkins pulled up behind him, exited his vehicle, and became confrontational. Adkins reportedly left but returned shortly afterward, entered the residence, and continued acting aggressively toward the female victim. At one point, he allegedly attempted to strike her with both fists.

According to the complaint, the female victim took Adkins to the ground in an attempt to calm him. While on the ground, Adkins allegedly tried to kick her and continued acting aggressively. After she disengaged and stood up, Adkins allegedly slapped her across the face.

Adkins was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he is being held on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. A no-contact order was issued on February 21, and a pretrial conference is scheduled for March 3. He is charged with assault, a general simple misdemeanor.
