Marilyn Stigers, age 87, of Rose Hill, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at the MHP Serenity Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 3, 1938, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Archie and Maxine (Meyers) Hickey. She attended Rose Hill High School and graduated with the Class of 1956. On August 5, 1956, she was united in marriage to Glenn Stigers at Tioga. To this union, two children were born, Belinda and Penny.
Marilyn sold Avon for over 30 years. She also worked as a secretary at the school in Rose Hill and worked at the local water department. She was a member of the Rose Hill Church where she helped maintain and take care of the church with her husband Glen for several years. Marilyn also helped work the voting polls in Rose Hill and Fremont. She was a former member of the Order of the Pythian Sisters. She enjoyed square dancing for many years all over southern Iowa and was a very talented seamstress.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 69 years, Glen Stigers of Rose Hill; her daughters, Belinda Slechta of Oskaloosa and Penny Stigers of Rose Hill; her grandchildren, Jamey (Jessica) Stigers, Dan (Brenda) Slechta and Wendy Slechta. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, Rodney and Brian Stigers in infancy; a sister, Beverly Meeker and two brothers, Charles and James Hickey.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Tioga Cemetery southeast of Rose Hill, Iowa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to the Rose Hill Church.
