Nebraska Congressman Mike Flood says lawmakers are feverishly working to find a compromise on nationwide, year-round 15.

“On the last call I was on, all I will say is, I felt like there was substantial progress and there was some coalescing on some of the concepts.”

The Rural Domestic Energy Council member says the group is trying to meet Wednesday’s deadline for House leadership to consider legislation. “This is a very tricky issue because you have small refineries, you have some members of the Republican Conference that don’t like the Renewable Fuel Standard. That’s the first step.

He tells Brownfield, “We really have to balance a lot of delicate positions to get where we want to go, but there has been progress made.”

The council also had a February 15 deadline to submit a bill but missed it and Flood says this week’s target date is more important. He did not disclose specifics of the negotiations.
