Several weak disturbances will generate mostly light precipitation during the next several days. Some of the most significant rain (locally an inch or more) will fall today and tonight from eastern Texas into the Tennessee Valley, while light snow will spread from the Ohio Valley into the middle Atlantic States. Late in the week, a cold front sweeping across the Midwest and Northeast will be preceded by light snow and trailed by cold, windy weather that will ensure another frigid weekend for the Great Lakes and Northeastern States. However, Florida’s peninsula will escape without additional freezes. Elsewhere, generally mild weather will prevail during the next 5 days from the Pacific Coast to the Plains, with any precipitation limited to the Pacific Northwest.
