Travis Hol, 53, of Pella, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, surrounded by family and friends.
Travis Edward Hol, son of Cornelis Edward and Lois Jean (Goemaat) Hol, was born November 25, 1972, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. At the age of 9, Travis trusted the Lord as his personal Savior and later followed the Lord in Believer’s Baptism at Bethel Baptist Church. He was a 1991 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and soon started working at Fareway, Paslode and then Pella Corp., where he worked for 25 years. He was working in the logistics department when his illness required his early retirement in September of 2024.
Travis married the love of his life, Melissa Godin, on December 31, 2002, in Mesa, Arizona. They made their home in Pella. Travis enjoyed taking his family on vacations to Florida, Colorado, Wisconsin, and many other states. He loved cheering on his children at their sporting events. Even while ill, he continued to attend every event he could. Travis was an active member of the Pella Federated Church. He was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed mountain biking and hiking. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Travis’s true love was his family and spending as much time as possible with them.
His family includes his wife, Melissa, his son, Kaiden Hol, and his daughter, Taryn Hol, all of Pella; his parents, Cornie and Lois Hol of Oskaloosa; a brother, Trenton (Lydia) Hol of Des Moines; a sister, Katie (Chad) Brooks of Ankeny; his nieces: Clara and Ruby Hol and Adeline, and Emilia Brooks; a nephew, Tate Brooks; his mother and father-in-law, Phil and Kathe Godin of Gilbert, AZ; his sisters-in-law: Winde (Grant) Black of Greenville, UT; and Jaimie (Jeremy) Sowards of Manassa, CO; his nieces: Sophie, Aubrey, Izzy Sowards; and a nephew, Jack Sowards; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
Travis was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral service for Travis will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Federated Fellowship Church in Pella, Iowa, with Pastor Joel Ruisch officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to the time of the service. Memorials may be made to Melissa Hol, who will use the funds to help fund Travis and Melissa’s children’s college education. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
