Local authorities were called to check out a situation involving some loose dogs in a neighborhood.
On January 27th, the Ottumwa Police Department responded to a report of a code violation in the 700 block of W. Mary Street. Upon investigation, it was determined that Corey Jones, a resident of Ottumwa, is the owner of two dogs that had escaped from his property.
According to court filings, the two dogs ran loose and chased after another individual. At the time, the dogs were unrestrained and not under the control of their owner, which is in violation of code section 7-11.
As a result, Jones was cited and released on charges of “Restraint of Animals – 1st Offense,” classified as a simple misdemeanor.
