An Ottumwa man was arrested Tuesday afternoon following an alleged violation of a no-contact order.

According to court records, on January 6 at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Ottumwa Police Department was dispatched to the 1100 block of North Quincy Avenue for a reported violation of a no-contact order. Upon arrival, officers observed Jacob Stahl, of Ottumwa, in the direct vicinity of the protected party on multiple occasions.

Authorities noted that Stahl had parked his vehicle next to the victim’s vehicle and, after acknowledging both the vehicle and the victim’s presence, chose to remain nearby. Following a Miranda warning, Stahl reportedly told officers there was “no point in leaving,” despite having an active order of protection in place.

Court documents state that Stahl and the victim currently have three valid no-contact orders in effect, issued on August 19, 2025; September 17, 2025; and October 16, 2025.

Stahl was arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail. He was later released after posting a $1,000 cash-only bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 30.

Stahl is charged with violation of a no-contact order/protective order, a simple misdemeanor.
