Monte James King, 85, of Ottumwa died at 2:50 p.m. January 25, 2026 at Vista Woods Care Center.
He was born December 12, 1940 in Ottumwa to William and Irene King. He married Linda K. Taylor July 6, 1962 in Ottumwa.
A 1959 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Monte was a railroad engineer.
Monte enjoyed taking care of his cars and he took pride in growing the best tomatoes. He loved spending time with his family and his dogs over the years. He handed out nicknames to all of his family members and was a great father.
Surviving is his wife, Linda; a granddaughter, Taylor King of Ottumwa; sisters-in-law, Pat Tee and Carol Taylor; brother-in-law, Tim Taylor; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Nici King and Teri King; and sisters, Mary King and Martha Dowling.
His body has been cremated. A time to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
