The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association would like to Congress to pass a new farm bill as soon as possible.

ICA director of government relations Kelli Klink says the Conservation Title was not included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

“Specifically of interest to Iowa Cattlemen is the Conservation Reserve Program, or CRP. So really, we want to make sure that it’s sensible and really includes cattlemen.”

She calls cattle producers some of the original conservationists.

“So how can we work in tandem to make sure that our lands, especially here in the state of Iowa, are being utilized to their fullest potential? But also ensuring that we have conservation of those lands carrying forward.”

Klink says ICA is looking forward to some reforms or additional programming to increase grazing on CRP acres.
