Authorities are investigating a case of identity theft and credit card fraud after an individual allegedly used someone else’s personal information to obtain a credit card and make unauthorized purchases.
On August 31st at approximately 4:24 p.m., the Marion County Sheriff’s Office investigated a reported case of identity theft. According to the criminal complaint, 26-year-old Kylie Shullaw of Des Moines allegedly committed credit card fraud totaling less than $1,500.
Shullaw reportedly traveled to Duluth, Minnesota, where she checked into the Radisson Hotel Duluth – Harborview using a credit card obtained with her twin brother’s Social Security number. The victim, a resident of Marion County, did not authorize the use of their information.
A warrant was served for Shullaw on January 26th. She is currently being held in the Marion County Jail on a $2,000 cash/surety bond. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 6th.
Shullaw faces charges of unauthorized use of a credit card under $1,500 and identity theft under $1,500.
