Danny Ray McElroy, 70, of Ottumwa died at 4:50 a.m. January 14, 2026 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born July 16, 1955 in Ottumwa to Ronald L. and Corrine E. Robinson McElroy. He married Vicki Lynne Huffman August 10. 1973.
A 1974 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Danny served in the U.S. Airforce. He had worked for Iowa Beverage and Mike Brooks Trucking as a truckdriver and dispatcher.
Danny enjoyed hunting, gunsmithing, working on his tractors and spending time with his family.
Surviving is his wife, Vicki; children, Travis McElroy of Ottumwa, Joseph McElroy of Fairfield and Kelli (Kalum) Applegate of Ottumwa; 8 grandchildren, Natasha, Tyler, Caden, Aria, Henley, Jordan, Hailey and Dyllan; and a great grandchild, Elijah.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis McElroy.
His body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.
