Centerville Police Respond to Bar Disturbance, Multiple Charges Filed

Centerville Police responded to a disturbance at a local bar after a patron reportedly threatened violence. Officers were able to detain the individual, who was visibly intoxicated and in possession of a controlled substance, and transported them to the county jail pending further legal action.

On January 25th, just after midnight at approximately 12:05 a.m., the Centerville Police Department responded to a disturbance at Gordie’s Bar and Grill in Centerville. Officers were called after Adriane Contreras, 44, of Lamoni, reportedly threatened to use a handgun and harm everyone inside the bar.

Upon arrival, police found Contreras being restrained in a booth by two patrons. Officers were able to take control and place Contreras in handcuffs. During the encounter, officers noted a strong odor of marijuana, and Contreras appeared highly intoxicated, with bloodshot eyes, yelling profanities, and acting belligerently as they were escorted to the back door.

While being transported to the Appanoose County Jail, Contreras threatened physical violence against two on-duty officers. After being booked, officers discovered a green leafy substance on the back seat of the patrol car, which tested positive for marijuana and weighed approximately 0.35 grams.

Contreras is currently detained at the Appanoose County Jail awaiting a preliminary hearing. Charges include:

  • Harassment, 1st Degree – Aggravated Misdemeanor
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana), 3rd/Subsequent Offense – Aggravated Misdemeanor
  • Harassment, 2nd Degree – Serious Misdemeanor
  • Assault Causing Bodily Injury or Mental Illness – Serious Misdemeanor
  • Public Intoxication – Simple Misdemeanor
  • Disorderly Conduct (Fighting/Violent Behavior) – Simple Misdemeanor
