MidAmerican Energy has been made aware of a fraudulent Facebook profile impersonating our official business page. The fake account is designed to look nearly identical to our legitimate page but is operated by a scammer using a personal profile.
The fraudulent profile has been sending friend requests and direct messages to users, sharing misleading or false information. Several warning signs indicate the profile is not legitimate, including:
- A small number of “friends” rather than followers
- A URL or @ username that does not match our official branding
- Very few posts or limited activity
- Attempts to initiate conversations through direct messages
Please be aware:
MidAmerican Energy does not send friend requests from personal accounts. If you receive a friend request or suspicious message claiming to be from MidAmerican Energy, do not accept it. Instead, delete the message and report the profile to Facebook immediately.
