Rose Marie Johnson, 65, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on December 10, 2025 at her home. She was born on August 2, 1960 in South Carolina to Pearl and Darlene Marie Benge Garmon Jr. On August 6, 1977 she married Richard Closser, they later divorced. Rose married Joseph Johnson on May 31, 2014 in Arkansas.
Rose was a hairstylist for many years before working at NuCara Home Medical in Ottumwa for the last 13 years. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed camping with her family, and going to yard sales. Family was the most important part of Rose’s life and she always looked forward to family togethers. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Johnson; four children, Kacy (Johan) Vermeulen of Unionville, Iowa, Kory (Kristina) Closser of Bloomfield, Emily Johnson of Maquoketa, Iowa, Andrew Johnson of Ames, Iowa; six grandchildren, Maddison, Morgan, Myles, Maci, Mac, Landin; three great-grandchildren, Tripp, Lainey, Ainslee; mother, Darlene (Carl) Ritz of Bloomfield; four siblings, Renetta (Steve) Blew of Bloomfield, Stacey (Ivy) Garmon of Bloomfield, Kevin (Sally) Ritz of Cambridge, Ohio, Dana (David) Hale of Floris, Iowa; and many aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents, Clifford and Ruth Benge.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Mark Clark officiating. Burial will be at the West Grove Cemetery in West Grove, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family to be designated after services.
