Pella Regional is pleased to announce that Rod Visser is Hospice of Pella’s 2025 Volunteer of the Year. Rod, along with other honored volunteers throughout Iowa, are recognized with great appreciation by Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Iowa and their local community.
“It’s an honor to serve patients and their families during such meaningful moments,” said Visser. “I really enjoy helping out, spending time with other volunteers, and being able to serve by transporting patients and delivering equipment.”
Volunteers of Hospice of Pella provide companionship for patients and relief for caregivers by letting them take a break from the bedside. They help with transportation needs, including errands and rides to and from appointments. They also may help in the office and take care of the garden. Their role is instrumental in the care of patients and families in hospice care.
“We are so thankful for Rod and his faithful service,” said Beth Loux, Hospice of Pella’s Volunteer Coordinator. “Rod is always willing to step in wherever needed — whether that’s transporting patients, delivering equipment, or offering a listening ear. His quiet dedication and compassionate spirit truly embody what it means to be a Hospice of Pella volunteer. We’re blessed to have him on our team.”
Hospice of Pella is very grateful for all of the volunteers that serve throughout the year. Volunteers serve in many capacities within Hospice of Pella. Each volunteer chooses which tasks they are comfortable doing and the times that they are able to help. For information about volunteer opportunities, call 641-620-5050.
