The Ottumwa Police Department says two arrests have been made in connection with a sexual assault investigation involving children.

Lieutenant Jason Bell says a search warrant was executed at a residence on the 100 block of North Ransom on Tuesday based on a December 9th report of sexual assault. According to Bell, the victims are a male juvenile and a female juvenile.

45-year-old Julio Gaitan-Romero was charged with second-degree sexual abuse (Class B felony), four counts of third-degree sexual abuse (Class C felony), and identity theft (Class C felony).

43-year-old Ana Marilia Hernandez Tejada was also charged with identity theft.

Police say Gaitan-Romero and Hernandez Tejada are facing identity theft charges for not using their identification for employment.

The department says they are still in the process of verifying the identities of the individuals involved in this case.
