The Fairfield City Council meeting on Monday, December 15th, included the official swearing-in of a new Fairfield Police Department officer.
Mayor Connie Boyer administered the oath of office to Officer Nathaniel Jones, formally welcoming him to the department. Jones recently joined the Fairfield Police Department after previously serving with the Meskwaki Police Department, where he was hired on June 12th, 2023.
During the meeting, Jones shared that his decision to transfer to Fairfield was driven by personal and family ties to the community. His fiancée, Kristin Burnstedt, works locally as a park ranger, and the couple is engaged and expecting a child.
In addition to his law enforcement career, Jones also serves in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, a commitment he has maintained since 2020. He noted that he was recently honored as Marine of the Year.
City officials and council members congratulated Officer Jones and welcomed him as he begins his service with the Fairfield Police Department.
