Nancy Hatfield, a beacon of love, faith, and resilience, passed away on December 28, 2025, at the age of 66 at her home in Moravia, surrounded by family.

She was born on February 28, 1959, in Centerville, Iowa to Dale Howard and LaVerna May (Rumans) Riegel. Nancy was a symbol of enduring strength and unfaltering devotion, who created a life brimming with love and service to others. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Nancy’s legacy is etched in the hearts of the many lives she touched. Nancy graduated from Moravia High School in 1977. On August 2, 1980, she married the love of her life, Marty Hatfield, and their union was blessed with beautiful children and grandchildren, who were the center of her universe. Nancy found joy in the simplest of things – camping and traveling with her family in the summers, attending her grandkids’, and nieces and nephews sporting events, and capturing precious moments through her passion for scrapbooking. She had a knack for transforming ordinary days into unforgettable memories, and her home and heart were always open to family and friends. Nancy was a woman of deep faith, a member of the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia, where she not only worshipped but also shared her love for scrapbooking with friends. Her faith was her compass, guiding her through life’s highs and lows, including her brave battle with liver cancer. Even in the face of adversity, Nancy’s faith never wavered; instead, it shone brighter, illuminating the path for those around her. Nancy will always be remembered for her unwavering faith, her boundless love for her family, and her indomitable spirit.

She is survived by her husband, Marty Hatfield; her children, Brandon Hatfield and Tasha (Brandon) Irving; grandchildren, Adam Crawford, Mackenzee Crawford, Jaydn Hatfield, Alliya Irving, Eastlynn Irving, & Baby Irving; sister, Sharon (Dan) McDanel; nieces, Mindy (Bill) Jennum, Michelle (Jason) Hall, Monica (Lance) Risher, Melanie Tyler; 14 great nieces and nephews, and 8 great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and LaVerna Riegel, and sister Karen Riegel. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm, on Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia with family present.

A funeral service will also be held on Friday at 6:00 pm at the church with Pastor Dwayne Lobb and Pastor Terry Chapman doing the eulogy. Nancy will be cremated following services. Memorials have been established to the family and will go to help with Nancy’s cousin, Marci Kraber to help pay her upcoming radiation treatment.

The light of Nancy’s life will continue to shine brightly through the memories we hold dear. We invite all who knew and loved Nancy to share their memories and photographs on her memorial page. In celebrating Nancy’s life, we keep her spirit alive and honor her extraordinary journey.
