A local high school standout signed her letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career in the Midwest.
McKenna Montgomery, the reigning Class 2A Girls Cross Country State Champion, will run track at Kansas State University. Her time of 18:20.7 was the fifth-fastest time in the history of the Class 2A Girls State Cross Country Meet and she was the first-ever state cross country champion to represent Albia High School.
Montgomery signed her letter of intent at Albia High School on Wednesday.
Montgomery is currently preparing for her final track season which will take place this spring. She finished third in the 3000-meter run at the Class 2A Girls Track Meet the last two years.
