James L. Jones, 77, of Ottumwa, died at 12:45 p.m. December 29, 2025 at his home.
He was born March 31, 1948 in Ottumwa to Donald E. and Bonnie L. McGhee Jones. James married Antoniette Depardo on August 6, 1966 in Agency and she preceded him in death on April 11, 2011.
A 1966 graduate of Ottumwa High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
James was a sales manager for J.C. Penney’s for many years before retiring. He was a talented woodworker and loved fishing and golfing.
Surviving are his sisters, Sherri (Edward) Lewis of Ottumwa and Tina (Larry) Hargis of Monroe; 5 nieces; 2 Godsons; and co-worker and best friend for years, Todd (Cindy) Barnes.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His body has been cremated and no services are planned.
Inurnment will be in Murdoch-Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
