An official with the U.S. Meat Export Federation suggests high beef prices have not deterred international buyers.
John Hinners is vice president of industry relations.
“Certainly our prices are a challenge internationally, but I am really impressed with the demand that we have. We aren’t seeing our customers run away from the price.”
He tells Brownfield Latin America is an example.
“You take Central America, South America, these are markets that were traditionally over time pretty price-sensitive. And they continue to buy a tremendous amount of U.S. beef at the given prices we have today, so I think that’s the shocker.”
Hinners says the quality and consistency of U.S. beef sets it apart from other countries.
