The Iowa Department of Transportation is encouraging photographers of all skill levels to take part in its annual Transportation Photo Contest. The contest features 22 different categories highlighting transportation across the state, and participants may enter photographs in one or multiple categories.
Submissions are due by February 2, 2026. Entrants may submit up to 20 digital photographs that reflect an Iowa transportation theme. All images must be submitted in digital format and should be uploaded at the highest resolution available.
Safety guidelines are emphasized as part of the contest rules. Photos that appear to have been taken while driving will be disqualified. Dash camera images are permitted, provided they are clearly identified as such on the entry form. Additionally, photos taken on railroad property will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Participants experiencing technical difficulties with the online submission form may email their completed application and digital images directly to the Iowa DOT.
