A man from Harvey has been arrested and charged with first-degree harassment for allegedly sharing explicit videos of a victim on Snapchat without consent.
On September 28, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a statement from a victim regarding a harassment report. According to court documents, Trenton Beebe, 32, from Harvey, shared a video containing sexual content of the victim on his Snapchat story. Authorities obtained a text message from Beebe in which he acknowledged sharing the video.
The following day, law enforcement questioned Beebe. Reports indicate that he accidentally uploaded a video that showed both him and the victim engaged in sexual acts. Beebe claimed that his phone was in his pocket, and the video somehow uploaded without his knowledge. He stated that he was alerted to the video by a friend and subsequently deleted it from his Snapchat story.
Court documents reveal that law enforcement served Beebe with a search warrant to seize his cell phone. A subsequent search warrant was executed to investigate the phone further. The police affidavit stated that videos and images of the victim performing sexual acts were found to have been uploaded to Beebe’s Snapchat account.
As a result of these findings, Beebe was arrested and is currently being held at the Marion County Jail. He faces charges of harassment, classified as a first-degree aggravated misdemeanor. His bond has been set at $2,000 cash or surety, and no preliminary hearing has been scheduled at this time.
