A regional sales and service manager with RCIS says farmers need to be aware of several beneficial changes to crop insurance in 2026.
Stefanie Wolfe, who serves the company’s Great Lakes territory, says the One Big Beautiful Bill Act provided premium relief for producers who select the Supplemental Coverage Option (SCO) or the Enhanced Coverage Option (ECO).
“For 2026, our producers are going to see an 80% discount on those.” She says, “They’re designed to fill in some of that deductible that’s left behind on their individual coverage.”
She tells Brownfield that the county-area options are becoming increasingly popular.
“We saw increased premium support between 2024 and 2025, and we sold three times as many ECO policies between those two years.” She says, “I think we’ll see a similar increase in interest for this upcoming growing season as well.”
Wolfe says over 90% of corn and soybean farmers use crop insurance as their primary risk-management tool, and it’ll be important for producers to meet with their agent before the March 15th, 2026, sign-up deadline.
