Authorities arrested a suspect for contempt after he was found in the vicinity of a protected party, violating a legal order.
On October 28, Mahaska County dispatch received a report about Virgilio Reyes, 38, of Oskaloosa, who was located with the victim in the 900 block of SE Street. According to court documents, Reyes is subject to a no-contact order issued by Mahaska County, which prohibits him from being near the protected party, including at the specified location.
When officers arrived, they saw Reyes through a window. He exited the residence through the back door and engaged with law enforcement. Reyes was arrested and is now being held at the Mahaska County Jail on charges of contempt for violating the no-contact/protective order (contempt of court).
