A Fairfield man faces several charges following an early-morning incident in which he allegedly struck multiple parked vehicles and left the scene.
According to criminal records, 24-year-old Cody Kahl has been charged with Operating While Under the Influence – First Offense (Serious Misdemeanor), Leaving the Scene of an Accident – Property Damage Only (Scheduled Violation), and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability – Accident Related (Scheduled Violation).
The incident occurred at approximately 2:57 a.m. on Sunday, November 9th, in the western parking lot of the Louden Lofts Apartments in Fairfield. Court records state that Kahl allegedly struck three parked vehicles before leaving the scene without contacting the owners.
Officers reportedly observed Kahl’s vehicle leaving the area and initiated their emergency lights and sirens. The vehicle came to a stop shortly afterward.
When officers made contact, they noted a strong odor of alcohol and observed that Kahl appeared unsteady on his feet, with slurred speech and bloodshot, watery eyes. When asked how much alcohol he had consumed, Kahl allegedly responded, “a lot.”
Kahl was released on personal recognizance. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 19th in Jefferson County Magistrate Court.
