On November 5th at approximately 3:40 p.m., the Knoxville Police Department received a report of a violation of a no-contact order.
The victim told officers that she and Cheyenne Demmon, 32, of Eddyville, have an active no-contact order in place due to a previous assault. The victim said she was at work when Demmon’s name came up during a meeting about an email Demmon had sent to the workplace.
Knoxville officers questioned Demmon, who claimed a fill-in administrator had contacted her. Demmon also said she told the administrator she was upset because the victim had allegedly been asking coworkers about her.
According to court documents, on November 9th, law enforcement began a formal investigation into the incident. Officers spoke with Demmon by phone. She stated she had contacted the victim’s workplace to ask why the victim was having others screenshot and screen-record her social media accounts.
Police asked Demmon whether her intention was to inquire about the victim. Demmon admitted it was, saying she wanted to know why the victim was monitoring her social media activity.
Court papers note that the no-contact order clearly states that Demmon must not contact, attempt to contact, or cause another person to contact the protected party.
On November 9th, Knoxville Police requested warrants for Demmon. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office served the warrant on November 14th. Demmon is currently being held in the Marion County Jail on a charge of Violation of a No-Contact/Protective Order – Contempt (Simple Misdemeanor).
