A 60-year-old Burlington woman has been arrested and charged with allegedly stealing an American flag from outside the Burlington Police Department earlier this week.
Christina Luedtke was taken into custody on Friday, November 7th following an investigation into the theft of the flag, which was discovered missing on the morning of Wednesday, November 5th.
According to a news release from the Burlington Police Department, officers became aware at approximately 10 a.m. on November 5th that the American flag displayed on the flagpole outside the department had been stolen overnight.
Officers reviewed surveillance camera footage and observed an individual removing the flag at approximately 1:19 a.m. and leaving the scene with it, according to the release.
Several officers were able to identify the suspect as Luedtke through the surveillance footage.
On November 7th, she was arrested on a warrant for Theft 4th Degree, a serious misdemeanor, and transported to the Des Moines County Jail. She is being held there on bond.
