Annie’s Project is a nationally recognized educational program dedicated to strengthening women’s roles in modern farm enterprises. Participants will gain practical skills in areas such as financial management, risk assessment, farm business planning, communication, and legal considerations.

According to ISU Extension and Outreach farm management specialist Patrick Hatting, Annie’s Project focuses on five key areas of agricultural risk management: financial, human resources, legal, marketing, and production.

“Our aim is to offer a program that is both engaging and highly valuable,” Hatting said. “Each session features presentations, group discussions, hands-on activities, and opportunities to build computer skills.”

“We also bring in guest speakers who share their experiences and expertise, helping participants strengthen their skills as business partners and farm owner,” Hatting added.

People working in agriculture participating in Annie’s Project courses become better business partners and owners by learning to manage and organize critical information for their own farms, while establishing networks with other farmers and agriculture business professionals.

“Providing a high-quality program like Annie’s Project is a tremendous benefit to our community, and we’re pleased to partner in offering this opportunity,” said Tammy Welcher,  Jasper County Extension and Outreach Office Manager.

According to Madeline Schultz, ISU Extension and Outreach Women in Ag Program Manager, “Annie’s Project equips participants with practical, business-focused education. The workshops help participants strengthen their financial skills and make more informed risk management decisions.”
