A Wisconsin Congressman says farmers can expect to hear about a financial assistance program from the Trump administration soon.
Third district Republican Derrick Van Orden tells Brownfield Trump plans to use tariff revenue to help offset damages caused by the lack of export sales. “People need to understand that President Trump and Brooke Rollins, I talked to her for about half an hour yesterday (Wednesday), are backing farmers play hard. We understand these tariffs are making people nervous in the service. That’s real. There’s going to be help on the way for row croppers, soybeans in particular coming up.”
Van Orden tells Brownfield he’s aware of what’s in the upcoming relief program. “I do, but I’m not going to get ahead of the President.”
Van Orden says the markets have been tough on U.S. farmers, and farmers need to know the administration has their back.
