The Fairfield Trojans girls tennis team is set to compete in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) Class 1A Region 1 tournament, with a chance to advance to the state tournament. The Trojans have earned the #1 seed and will host every round they would compete in.
Regional Tournament Schedule
- First Round: September 20th, 2025
- Top Bracket:
- Fairfield will host Fort Madison and Burlington Notre Dame at 10:00 AM.
- Camanche High School will face Maquoketa at 10:00 AM.
- Bottom Bracket:
- Central DeWitt will host Mount Pleasant at 10:00 AM.
- North Scott will host Assumption and Keokuk at 10:00 AM.
- Second Round: September 20th, 2025
- Fairfield will play the winner of the Fort Madison vs. Burlington Notre Dame match. This contest is scheduled for 1:00 PM. The winner of this match advances to the regional semifinals.
After the first two rounds on September 20th, the tournament will proceed with the following matches:
- Regional Semifinals: September 24th, 2025
- The winner of Fairfield’s second-round match will play the winner of the Camanche vs. Maquoketa match at 1:00 PM. This match is also hosted by Fairfield.
- Regional Finals: September 27th, 2025
- The winners of the two semifinal matches will face off at 10:00 AM in Fairfield to determine the Regional Champion.
The winner of the Class 1A Region 1 tournament will be crowned the regional champion and will advance to the state tournament.
Fairfield head coach Travis Dunkin is excited for the challenge ahead, emphasizing both the level of competition and the importance of community support. He believes his players are ready to rise to the occasion, especially with the added motivation that a win on September 27th would send the team to state. Dunkin also noted the advantage of not having to travel far, which should allow plenty of Trojan fans to be there to cheer the team on. Make sure to do just that and support the girls!
