Ronald Robert Baxter, Jr., 78, of Ottumwa, died at 9:25 p.m. October 11, 2025 at Ridgewood Specialty Care.
He was born September 18, 1947 in Council Bluffs to Ronald Robert and Elaine Cornelious Baxter, Sr. He married Lori Tague February 8, 1969. She preceded him in death September 5, 2014.
A resident of Ottumwa most of his life, Ronald had worked as a carpenter for over 20 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and loved spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Tammy (Paul) Barnett of Ottumwa, Veronica Marshall of Bloomfield; a son, Kenny (Melinda) Baxter of Ottumwa; 9 grandchildren, Eric (Stacey) Barnett, Jamie Barnett, Angelique Marshall, Wyatt (Brittney) Marshall, Jessica (Shane) Fortney, Jack Baxter, Jacob Marshall, Kendra (Clinton) VanHelton, Tyler Garr; 13 great grandchildren, Paxton, Matt, Easton, Grayson, Naythen, Ronnie, Katelyn, Lakelyn, Adrian, Karter, Baxter, Weston, Kaylee; 2 brothers, Tim (Stella) Baxter of Maine, Terry Baxter of Omaha; 4 sisters, Bonnie Gale of Neola, June Christensen of Harland, Tina Baxter and Roxanne (Bill) Bothwell, both of Council Bluffs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Timothy Fortney; a great granddaughter, Samantha Reinier; 7 brothers, Kenneth, Roy, Rick, Mike, David, Larry, Jimmy; 3 sisters, Ila, Mary, Linda.
His body has been cremated. A time to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
