On October 17th, The Oskaloosa Police Department launched an investigation into allegations of child abuse following a report from local school officials.
The Oskaloosa Police Department responded to a call for assistance from a Department of Human Services (DHS) employee regarding allegations of child abuse. Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with the DHS employee, who reported witnessing red marks and bruising around the child’s face and ears during an interview. Court records indicate that the child alleged his father, 34-year-old Ryne Bride of Oskaloosa struck him the previous night.
Later that day, police contacted the child’s mother to discuss the allegations. According to the police complaint, two other children in the residence were also questioned. Both children corroborated the claims, stating that Bride had disciplined the child by hitting him in the face multiple times.
Law enforcement located Bride in the 1700 block of Pella Avenue and questioned him.
Following their investigation, the Oskaloosa Police arrested Bride and charged him for child endangerment resulting in bodily injury, a Class D felony.
A court order prohibits contact between Bride and the child involved.
