Missouri Man Arrested in Fairfield After Confrontation With Law Enforcement

A 23-year-old Missouri man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following a violent incident in Fairfield that left an officer injured and resulted in several threats against law enforcement.

Ryan Kerfoot of Kahoka, Missouri, was arrested on October 18th, 2025, after officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 800 block of North 10th Street.

When officers arrived, they found Kerfoot with a laceration on his lip. According to police reports, he was uncooperative and displayed aggressive behavior. Emergency medical personnel were called to assess his injury, but Kerfoot became irate, began striking himself in the face, and advanced toward medical staff.

As officers attempted to detain him, Kerfoot allegedly struck one in the jaw with his elbow, causing pain and discomfort. During the encounter, officers also observed a firearm in his pocket. When a deputy approached, Kerfoot reportedly made threatening statements and attempted to pull the firearm out.

After being taken into custody, Kerfoot was transported to the Jefferson County Health Center’s Emergency Department for medical evaluation. While there, he allegedly made multiple death threats toward officers and claimed to have placed a “bounty” on them.

Kerfoot faces the following charges:

  • Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations Causing Bodily Injury (Class D Felony)
  • Going Armed with Intent (Class D Felony)
  • Harassment – First Degree (three counts) (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
  • Interference with Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
  • Possession of a Dangerous Weapon While Under the Influence (Serious Misdemeanor)
  • Public Intoxication (Simple Misdemeanor)

Kerfoot was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and later released after posting a $10,000 surety bond. Further court proceedings are pending.
