Melody McMain, 69, of Milton, IA passed away peacefully at her home with her husband by her side on Friday, October 17, 2025. As were Melody’s wishes, cremation has taken place with no service planned at this time. Friends may leave online condolences at

Melody McMain was born on April 15, 1956, in California to Robert Sr. and Marjorie Rorabaugh Traver. Her early years were spent along the Columbia River nurturing her love for the outdoors. She spent many years working as a project manager with Microsoft. Melody was a loving mother of two children: William and Elley. While living in Milton, IA she met Doug McMain. The two became husband and wife o n August 13, 2012, and would remain by each other’s side for the remainder of her life.
Melody spent several years working at Mid-States Manufacturing in Milton before running her own house cleaning business, eventually retiring due to her health. Whenever she was able, Melody wanted to be out in nature. She and Doug spent many hours hiking through the woods and camping at their favorite spots. She will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends.
Melody was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Robert and Elizabeth. Left to share her story is her loving husband, D Slack of Burlington, IA, Elley Owings of Bloomfield, IA, Wesley McMain of Tulsa, OK, and Miranda McMain of Bremin, OH; six grandchildren, Samantha, Tiffany, Austin, Ariya, Alana, and Brobston; three great grandchildren; four siblings; Kathy Koznek (Dick B aker), Todd (Michelle)Lindsay, Kim (Susan) Traver, and Marilyn (Steve) Ronfeld, as well as many extended family and friends.
